Friday 25th June 2021 10am - 3pm
This 5 hour Botanical Dyeing Workshop will immerse you in the 'hands on' historical practice of dyeing protein fibres [wool and silk] with plant material.
After some welcome refreshment, we'll head out into the cutting garden where you'll learn which of the seasonal plants will provide colour. You'll then cut your own preferred plant material to use for pigment extraction.
The rest of the day will be spent in practical mode, dyeing a variety of protein fibres.
A home cooked vegetarian lunch is provided, along with Aga baked cake and refreshments throughout the day.
As we will be outside for much of the time, please dress appropriately for the weather.
Everything needed for the day will be provided for you. You will leave with a variety of plant dyed fibres as a record of your activities plus a digital copy of Colour from the Cutting Garden, which will be emailed to you.
The workshop is held here on the smallholding on the border of Bury and Bolton. Full address details will be sent after booking.
Covid guidelines will be followed and should another lockdown prevent the workshop from going ahead, a full refund will be made.
