Colour from the Cutting Garden
This 5 hour botanical dyeing workshop will immerse you in the 'hands on' historical practice of dyeing fibres with plant material.
After some welcome refreshment, we'll head out into the cutting garden where you'll learn which of the seasonal plants will provide colour.
You'll then cut your own preferred plant material to use for pigment extraction.
The rest of the day will be spent in practical mode, dyeing a variety of protein fibres to create samples and swatches.
A home cooked vegetarian lunch or supper is provided, along with Aga baked cake and refreshments throughout the day.
As we will be outside for much of the time, please dress appropriately for the weather.
The workshop is held here on the smallholding on the border of Bury and Bolton. Full address details will be sent after booking.
Covid guidelines will be followed and should another lockdown prevent the workshop from going ahead, a full refund will be made.
